Access and Inclusion
Open to All
Section titled “Open to All”Marlow Learning is committed to making this website and tutoring services accessible to all students, including those who rely on assistive technologies or face barriers that make traditional in-person tutoring difficult or impossible.
Website Accessibility
Section titled “Website Accessibility”This website is built on Astro Starlight, a documentation framework designed with accessibility in mind. Starlight implements semantic HTML, keyboard navigation support, and ARIA landmarks throughout. The site is navigable without a mouse and is compatible with common screen readers. Marlow Learning strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
Known Limitations
Section titled “Known Limitations”This website is actively maintained by a single operator. While every effort is made to meet accessibility standards, some content may fall short in ways that have gone unnoticed. Feedback is welcome and will be addressed promptly.
Accessibility Benefits of Virtual Practice
Section titled “Accessibility Benefits of Virtual Practice”Because Marlow Learning operates entirely online, students who face barriers to in-person tutoring are welcome without reservation.
Students with physical disabilities, including mobility impairments, chronic illness, or conditions that make leaving home difficult, can access tutoring from their own space without transportation or physical accommodation concerns.
Students who use AAC devices are welcome. Many augmentative and alternative communication users are strong readers and writers, and literary analysis, essay structure, and written expression are areas where focused tutoring delivers real value. Students can contribute to sessions by typing directly into shared documents rather than speaking.
Students managing mental health conditions, including severe anxiety or agoraphobia, benefit from working in a familiar, controlled environment on their own terms.
Students with severe chronic illnesses, such as lupus, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or Crohn’s disease, often experience unpredictable energy levels. A flexible virtual practice accommodates the reality of variable capacity in ways that rigid in-person schedules cannot.
Marlow Learning welcomes these students but does not position itself as a clinical specialist in any of these areas. Where students have complex communication or medical needs, I encourage collaboration with their existing support teams, including speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, or medical professionals.
A Neuro-Affirming Approach
Section titled “A Neuro-Affirming Approach”Marlow Learning’s tutoring practice is built around a neuro-affirming philosophy. It is essential for an ELA tutor to understand that students think, learn, and process language in different ways. Neurotypical and neurodivergent students alike are welcome.
