How does Marlow Learning justify its fees, especially when artificial intelligence tools can assist with writing?

Marlow Learning charges a flat session fee of $175, which reflects a premium, comprehensive service that a generative artificial intelligence tool simply cannot replicate. The session fee is justified by my academic and legal experience, personalized lesson planning and rigorous preparation, and superior online security and data privacy. As an added benefit, Marlow Learning also stores video recordings of each tutoring session for a period of five months so that clients and students may track and review what has been learned.

What can students expect during Marlow Learning's tutoring sessions?

One size does not fit all when it comes to English Language Arts tutoring. Marlow Learning tailors every tutoring session for your student's unique skill set and learning needs.

No matter the quality of a lesson plan or expertise of a tutor, a student cannot learn in stressful, uncomfortable conditions. Many students lose confidence in their literacy abilities and, as a result, lose interest in English Language Arts when they are asked to read aloud or articulate their opinions in competitive classrooms, where the pressures of assessment and the judgment of peers often negatively affect learning. This is why building trust with a student is my first priority.

Our tutoring sessions will minimize pressure and build your student's confidence. Writing skills will be developed during every session, but if reading aloud or public speaking are negative stressors for your student, then we will slowly work up to these skills. I model reading aloud so that students may observe my pacing, tone, and mistakes. Flawless reading and speaking are not the objectives of English Language Arts, and it is important for students to hear adults make and correct mistakes as they read. When your student becomes comfortable with me, we will begin reading aloud together.

Our sessions will be based primarily on the texts and assignments that have been assigned at school, and I do not assign homework. However, I will provide access to Marlow Learning educational resources as required, and we may use these resources during our tutoring sessions.

How much tutoring will be required before a student shows improvement in English Language Arts?

Given the subjective nature of the humanities, where answers are not simply right or wrong and the biases of individual teachers influence grading, Marlow Learning cannot promise that a student will show a specific measure of academic improvement within a specific time. Further, the learning needs of each student vary greatly.

While it is impossible to predict how many tutoring sessions will be required before students achieve their learning goals, it is realistic to anticipate better outcomes from a long-term tutoring relationship. Few English Language Arts students show improvement after only one or two tutoring sessions, and Marlow Learning's services are not designed for last-minute essay help or test preparation. It takes time to develop literacy skills, and Marlow Learning encourages parents and guardians to schedule weekly or bi-weekly tutoring sessions for at least several months. Where possible, students often benefit most from continuing to work with an English Language Arts tutor throughout junior high and high school. Expect the best results from a long-term tutoring relationship.

Why must initial consultations be conducted by Nextcloud Talk video conference?

Unlike phone consultations, video consultations enable the screen-sharing of Marlow Learning's service contract. As this contract governs the tutoring relationship, it must be available for everyone to read and discuss during the consultation.

Does Marlow Learning offer tutoring for high school students outside of Alberta and British Columbia?

No. The Canadian provinces have unique education curricula. Generalized tutoring that disregards or insufficiently addresses local learning requirements is of limited value to students. By narrowing the jurisdictional scope, Marlow Learning tailors instruction to align precisely with the Alberta and British Columbia curricula.

Does Marlow Learning offer tutoring for other junior high, high school, or university courses?

No. Marlow Learning only tutors students from grades 9 through 12 and does not offer tutoring in subjects beyond English Language Arts. By focusing on this single discipline, Marlow Learning maintains the highest standards of English Language Arts instruction.

Does Marlow Learning apply AI-detection software to student work?

No. Apart from breaching Marlow Learning's commitment to securing client data on self-hosted infrastructure, the use of third-party AI-detection software would not provide error-free confirmation that a piece of writing was drafted by artificial intelligence. Unwilling to accuse students of using artificial intelligence, Marlow Learning trusts students to use artificial intelligence responsibly and to present only their own work for review during tutoring sessions.

What proof can Marlow Learning provide to confirm Justin Marlow's university credentials?

Prospective clients are welcome to request Justin Marlow's official Confirmation of Graduation letters, which are issued by the university registrars. For security reasons, access to these letters will be provided through a read-only viewer hosted on Marlow Learning's private server. This prevents the downloading, copying, or editing of the letters. Upon request, Marlow Learning will email a secure, temporary access link to any prospective client seeking to verify these credentials.

Does Marlow Learning offer a client referral program?

Yes. As the owner of a new business, I am genuinely grateful to all clients who introduce Marlow Learning to other families, and I want to show my appreciation. When you refer a family that completes two tutoring sessions at the full session rate, you will receive one free tutoring session. Unless Marlow Learning is at maximum client capacity, there is no limit on how many times you can take advantage of my referral program. On referring three families, you will receive a permanently locked session rate that will not adjust as my standard rates increase. On referring five families, your session rate will be permanently reduced to the Founding Client Rate of $100 per session. These rate locks apply to each of your children for as long as you remain a client. Full program terms, including how referrals are credited and how rate locks apply, are included in the Marlow Learning Tutoring Contract.
